Urban Kai Farms
We have a mission to enable as much bio-intensive urban agriculture across Te Awakairangi ki Tai as possible. In previous times we partnered around micro-farm set ups in the backyards of social housing, farms operating out of Rimutaka Prison, and more recently at Epuni Care and Protection, Te Puni School and our model garden at The ReMakery.
The kai we grow goes into our kitchen to provide healthy meals for members in our community, as well as supplying our café and grocer with locally grown, nutritious meals.

Farming Sessions
Join Urban Kai Farms for one of our weekly farming sessions. We usually meet at The Remakery and go from there as a team, often coming back for lunch together.
Alongside our team, learn new skills and meet new people at one of our regular sessions, no experience is necessary.
The activities vary depending on the seasons, but we firmly believe farming is not a back-breaking activity. Come learn our clever methods for farming without digging! We turn organic materials otherwise destined for landfill into compost, and use chemical-free methods to attract beneficial insects and repel pests. Above all, we care for the soil to enhance the earth and provide the very best for our children—local, organically grown, nutrient-dense fruit and vegetables.
